"Happily Ever After" was very reminiscent of season 4's Desmond episode. Everything we saw was Desmond related and there were no sub plots going on. This steady pace was a nice change from the constant movement between characters we are used to. Tonights episode finally provided us with some idea about the flash sideways which have been virtually unexplained. It looks like the flash sideways are a result of the bomb detonation during last seasons finale. There are now two of everyone, and two separate timelines as well.
In the sideways reality, we find out our old friend Charlie saw his other life when he was dying on the airplane. He tries to show Desmond by driving his car into the lake, but it fails. He did however give Desmond a flash of his other life, which he pursues to find more about throughout the episode. One of the stranger moments in this episode is seeing Widmore and Desmond getting along great, after their more than rough relationship in the past. It was nice seeing many old references as well such as the the McCutchen, DHARMA stations, and also Penny and Desmond's relationship, which is in my opinion the best on the show.
Daniel Faraday also made an appearance, this time he is into piano, not physics. My hunch about this in a previous post seems to be true. One of the few predictions I've made accurately. Faraday does seem to still be important when he reveals that he made a complex quantum physics equation he saw in his dream. Who knows what this will lead them to, but they are looking for answers.
Hawking tells Desmond that he has everything he wants and he should stop searching for whatever he's looking for. She also tells him that it's a violation to do so. She clearly remembers her life with Desmond based on her reaction and speech she gives to him. This seems to have something to do with the "rules" which have been referenced for seasons now.
It's becoming more and more apparent that they shouldn't have changed things by setting off the bomb. This alternate reality wasn't supposed to exist. Another interesting note is that Daniel and Charlie reference "love" as what they experienced when they saw their other lives. Desmond also requests the manifest in his sideways reality, and says he wants to "show" the other people on the flight this "love". Who knows how this will end up seeing as the island is under water in their timeline.
Also, when Desmond touched his constant(Penny), it sent his consciousness back to his body on the island. Who knows if this connection is important, or why this happened. Now that he's back he finally realizes the importance of what is happening, and is ready to do something about it. This is good, but in a strange turn of events, he ends up with Sayid. Hopefully he doesn't help the smoke, but I doubt this will happen.
Next weeks episode is called "Everybody Loves Hugo". I hope to see more on island activity.

LOST The Package
Apologies for last weeks anger. Lost is FINALLY on track. The Package was the best episode this season, offering much more progression than any of the previous episodes. The writers have also shown us that they didn't forget about our previous 6 seasons. Seeing DHARMA room 23 (the subliminal message test room) and Desmond was very nostalgic, as was Jacks speech to Sun in the garden she planted 5 years ago. Things are finally coming together.
Who would have thought the Richard episode would be disappointing and a Sun and Jin episode so compelling?
Let's get down to business. Last week I had plenty of complaints and am still disappointed with the turnout on some of those issues. The writers have now stated that the storm that brought Richards ship in was just "later that day." This is an error on their part for this reason: When their boat is just offshore and it is sunny, they would have seen the statue and the island clearly. When they crash at night the men in the boat shout that they see land and that it is "guarded by the devil."(ie the statue) They would have seen the statue and a giant island sitting just off shore earlier that day. It doesn't effect the plot but the writers need to be more careful next time! We care about these things.
So what happened in "The Package?"
Desmond is back! Finally. It looks as if he didn't come willingly. (Refer to sneak peak # 2 below.)
Widmore is playing against smokey's team.
Jin saw his daughter Ji Yeon for the first time on Suns camera.
Mikhail lost an eye in the flash sideways. Looks like he was never meant to have that eye in any life.
We also see a number of references to "old" events including room 23, Shannon's inhaler, and discussion of electromagnetism and its effects on Locke, reminding us that the writers didn't just forget everything they've told us.
Still want to see our blonde friend again, and would like to see origins of the wheel. No word on "Wallace" either. Maybe these things are being saved for the end, along with the secrets of the statue, temple, etc.

Lost Season 6 (Recon)
This weeks episode was called Recon and provided some interesting info. First I'd like to point out that they are making quite an effort to make Locke seem "good". I think they are just trying to show how convincing he is. Hopefully we don't have to decide who is good and who is bad in the end. After 6 seasons of holding back answers and only 8 episodes left, we better get hard facts soon.
So what's new from this episode?
Sawyer is planning to leave the island, presumably with his friends while "Locke and Widmore are busy dealing with each other." I can say pretty comfortably that this will fail, or there wouldn't be much story left to tell. They spent so much effort and time trying to get back. Why would they turn around and leave? Also, if Widmore knows anything about the smoke, he certainly knows he can't kill it, so what is he doing on the island?
Ignoring the flash sideways, that is about all we got from this episode. I am more concerned about all the questions they raised at the beginning of the season, only to ignore them for the next 4 episodes. Again, who is the blonde boy in the woods? Who is "Wallace" as seen on the dial at the lighthouse? What is the wheel and who built it? What was going on when Walt used to show up in the woods with water pouring out of his mouth? Where is Desmond and what did it mean when he turned the fail safe key? Why was Libby in the mental hospital with Hurley?
I don't see how they will possibly tie all of this up, not to mention the hundreds of other questions they ignored for seasons on end. On the bright side, next episode is the first ever Richard episode. Our favorite character who we know virtually nothing about despite 6 seasons of story development. If we don't find out something groundbreaking I think we will all be very disappointed.

LOST Season 6 Episode 6 "Dr. Linus"
Who would have thought Ben would end up on the "good" team?
After killing his father and hundreds of others in the Dharma Initiative, the serial killer we all love is on our side. This is good news to me. Ben has done so much wrong but he has finally faced up to it, and I think we all know there has been good in him all along. It still seems strange that he is on Jacobs side after he killed him.
We finally know that Richard came on the "Black Rock" ship we have seen since season 1, and we also find out that living forever has not been as great as it seems. Richard wanting to kill himself and Dogen's speech before he died lead me to believe there has been a lot of deception from Jacob and the Smoke Monster, which is interesting because one is pegged as good and the other evil. Beyond this, Richard says that "it's considered a gift to be touched by Jacob." So what does this mean for Jack, Hurley, Sawyer, etc? Do they have eternal life as well or do they get a different "gift"? We will find out soon enough.
Other food for thought:
Jacob touched all of the Losties before they went to the island. He touched Hurley after he had already been to the island when he met him in the cab last season. Is this significant?
What do the "flash sideways" have to do with anything? Is this just an alternate reality created by the bomb set off in last seasons finale, or will our characters somehow end up in this other reality or vice versa.
Things to note in the alternate reality:
Ben did in fact go to the island and cares for his father. How did the island sink and what caused Ben and his dad to leave before it occured?
Also, Locke says his father is invited to his wedding, so he clearly became paralyzed some other way. You don't invite the man that paralyzed you and stole your kidney to your wedding.
Last note:
Widmore is back to the island. Which team will he play for? I'm going to assume Jacobs because of his previous position with the "others", and also the fact that he wanted to protect John Locke in season 5. He may have known that the smoke would take him over if he died.
We still don't know who "Wallace" is unless it was a code for Widmore. We also don't know who the blonde boy is, nor where Desmond will come into play in the final episodes.
Next weeks episode is called Recon, and I can't say with any real certainty what is going to happen, they have continued throwing curve balls this season and your guess is as good as mine. There is a trailer and sneak preview below.

LOST Episode 6 SUNDOWN
The Pickup Game Begins
The losties finally started picking teams this episode. Claire, Kate, and Sayid are all with the "dark" team. Sayid has a lot more blood on his hands after killing Dogen, Lennon, and essentially letting in the smoke which killed plenty of others. Jacob's team looks like it will have many more people we know including: Hurley, Jack, Miles, Ilana, Linus, and Lapidus to name a few.
It looks like we won't be seeing Hiroyuki(Dogen) anymore but he still has some importance. Lennon noted just before Sayid slashed his throat that Dogen was "the only thing keeping it out." It being or old friend John Locke. This seems like a video game reference where the smoke can't enter the temple until he defeats the temple master. Knowing the writers,JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof, this could all be part of the "game" being played.
Where is Sawyer? He is not with the rest of his apparent "team" at the end of the episode, and he's been gone since we last saw him with "Locke" 2 episodes ago in The Substitute. Richard is also missing, and hasn't been seen since he talked to Sawyer then ran into the woods. He said he was going to the temple, so where is he? Jin is also missing.
Other questions remain... Who was the blonde boy the smoke couldn't seem to interfere with? The game master? He made it very clear that "there are rules." What is the significance of the alternate reality? Time will tell. Although as Daniel Fairaday put it in season 4, "Time is sort of a relative term." Unfortunately for us, time is running out for the show and based on the final episode titles I don't see a lot of older questions being answered.
For example: What really happened to Desmond when he turned the fail safe key? What was Ben doing when he drained the water in the tunnel and said "I'll be outside"? At the time we were led to believe he was summoning the smoke, but it's clear now that he had no connection to it whatsoever. Also, who built the wheel that moves the island? These and many other questions remain. The good news is we are finally starting to get some answers.

LOST Season 6 Episode 5 The Lighthouse
Answers, really?
ABC keeps repeating that "The time for questions is over," yet this weeks episode provided virtually nothing we didn't already know. So what did they give us to think about?
Someone is coming to the island. Who is coming?
We aren't told directly but I believe it may be someone named "Wallace." Jacob told Hurley to set the dial at the lighthouse to 108 degrees. I paused,(thank you DVR) and could see that the name next to 108 was Wallace. I thought for sure it would be Desmond. Maybe it is a code name. Almost all the names are crossed off minus the LOST crew we have known from season 1. Number 55 is not crossed off however and is a black scribble with what looks like the name ash next to it. I think this is significant of the smoke monster, or Claire's "friend" as she put it at the end of the episode.
Next question. Why isn't Sawyer with Locke when he arrives at Claire's tent?
It sure seemed like they weren't leaving each others side last week when they claimed they were "leaving the island together." Now Sawyer is gone. Any ideas where he is?
Last new info: Jacob tells Hurley they can't go back to the temple because someone bad is going there, and it's already too late.
I was sure Dogen and Jacob were on the same side but they don't seem to be in this episode. When Hurley is in the temple with Dogen, Jacob makes no attempt to communicate with him through Hurley. Now we realize Jacob left Dogen at the temple, likely to die. Everyone in the temple panicked when they heard Jacob was dead, yet he does nothing to help them. If it is "too late" to save them, maybe it's playing back to another Lost theme that you can't change your destiny, and I think Jacob may just be unable to do this. He can't interfere with their destiny.
Last note of speculation... I think that in the alternate universe Fairaday will have never stopped playing piano and will meet Jack through his son's piano playing. His son is playing the same piece Fairaday plays as a little boy in season 4, just when his mother tells him he can't play anymore. I don't think this is a coincidence.
